Trauma: Yours, Mine, and Ours
Holly A Magaña, Ph.D.
Holly A. Magaña, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Irvine, California, where she works with victims of crime and others who have experienced trauma and adversity. Dr. Magaña has over 30 years of experience working with children and families whose lives have been impacted by trauma. She is a former Service Chief with the Orange County Health Care Agency where she oversaw mental health programs serving children in the foster care system and child victims of violence. She was active there in efforts to develop a trauma-informed system of care for children and youth involved in the mental health, education and child welfare systems. Dr. Magaña has worked with the Orange County Department of Education to develop and implement a Trauma-Informed Educator training series which is being delivered to school staff throughout the county. She is also a trainer for San Diego State University’s Public Child Welfare Training Academy and several community agencies, delivering courses on the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma-informed care and secondary traumatic stress.
